Walk and Roll Fridays at Valencia Elementary!

Lightning Bolts will be starting a new tradition at Valencia this year! Because of the the great success of last year's Walk and Roll to School event sponsored by the Safe Routes to School organization and the city of Pico Rivera, the school will be starting Walk and Roll Fridays. Every Friday, students and their families are encouraged to walk or ride their bikes to school. Families who normally drive to school are encouraged to park a few blocks away from school and enjoy the weather and the health benefits of walking to school. The Safe Routes to School organization will be providing a small prize for all participating students at our inaugural event this Friday, October 3, 2014. So put your walking shoes on or grab your helmet and handlebars and join us for this fun new event!

Valencia Elementary will be conducting the following activities to commemorate this special day:
 Start-of-school flag salute and moment of silence
 All students and staff will wear red, white and blue
 Class learning activities about the history and contributions of our nation’s first responder professions such as nurses, fire-fighters, paramedics, law enforcement and armed services

We are encouraging families to talk with their children about this important aspect of our community. Thank you for your continued support of our students!
